Every year there are fewer and fewer men who fought to defend our freedom during World War II. My father’s generation. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust… May their memories live on.

Sadly, we must announce the passing of celebrated WWII veteran RV Burgin on April 6th at age 96. Sgt. Burgin served in the Pacific in World War II with the First Marine Division. Sgt. Burgin and his fellow Marines battled from New Britain through Peleliu to Okinawa.
Sgt. Burgin received the Bronze Star for his actions in the fighting in Okinawa. The service of he and his fellow Marines was chronicled in the HBO mini-series, The Pacific and Sgt.
