Winter is coming, or at least fall. I actually got sleeted on today while driving to Big Town to set up for this weekend’s Premier Gun Show.
Halloween is this coming weekend kicking off the season of many holidays. Too many of which are sort of ruined by all the stores looking at them as nothing more than selling opportunities. Including ones that should be a time of solemnity like Veterans Day, a time to give thanks for our blessings. We are merchants, capitalists who make our living selling guns and knives and yet we are old enough to remember a time when we put aside time.
In my childhood people wore poppies on Veteran’s Day which was called Armistice Day because it commemorated the end of World War I. It wasn’t a day for a ton of sales.
Maybe we should remember those who made the sacrifices, especially now when the surviving WW II vets are in their 90s and there are fewer every year.
Big Town is our favorite show, we have some new Kizer Knives which are really interesting. We have some more automatics.
