The National Association for Gun Rights has been predicting the gun grabbers would propose a new “assault weapons” ban for weeks, but we had no idea how far Congress would go.

Introduced by House Democrats, H.R. 4269 the “Assault Weapons Ban of 2015” would outright prohibit the sale and manufacture of most modern handguns, rifles and shotguns made or imported after it took effect.

It also prohibits ammunition magazines which hold more than ten rounds.

While it doesn’t immediately criminalize continued ownership of the banned firearms or magazines, it would prohibit private transfers of the grandfathered firearms. This means that gun owners who wished to pass down a listed gun to a family member could find themselves subject to felony prosecution.

The list of banned guns is much broader than the prior ban in effect from 1994 to 2004. It reads like a “who’s who” of modern firearms and manufacturers, and smacks of a backdoor implementation of the U.N.’s so-called “Small Arms Treaty.”

Bottom line: If you own a gun, odds are it’s on this list.
